Hello,
So, we have found ourselves in 2017! That number sounds rather odd and futuristic to me, but I'm sure I'll get used to it by some time in December. I've been working on the the Bluebird and Daisy CAL. The last few evenings have involved Corner Grannys which I have never tried before and have found a new love for.
As well as crochet, I've been putting Christmas decorations away. Not all have quite made it into the cupboard yet. I have balled up the Christmas tree lights and quite like them left on the side like that, so they may stay out at least for winter.
We've also been out and about walking which was great fun. I love getting both the girls and the Manchild away from screens for a few hours.
Just a few days left now to enjoy until work and school resume and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it, even the housework minutes! I hope you are all having a good start to the year too.

Today's end of year job was to sort out the spare room which has become the dumping ground for everything people don't know where to put. This includes my many WIPs. While I was doing this, I thought I might show you my current afghan. It was meant to be a gift for a 60th birthday, but unfortunately wasn't finished in time. It will still go to the intended recipient, but it will be a surprise rather than for a specific reason.
The design is a crochet along (CAL) by Bluebird and Daisy called Bluebird's Granny. I loved the idea of trying new ways of using the traditional granny square.
I am making it in Stylecraft Special DK in colours Duck Egg, Turquoise, Sherbert, Cream and Aspen.
Hopefully, I'll be able to show you my progress in the new year. Until then Happy New Year to you all and Happy Hooking!

Well hello and welcome to my new blog. I need to start with a confession. This has become a bit of a tradition for me. I sit in the lull that is the week between Christmas and New Year, I enjoy the peace and quiet in total contrast to the hectic last few weeks and think - well, now would be a nice time to start a blog. I then consider blog names and which photos to use or take. I think about the exact theme and which topics I would like to cover. I have a look at the logistics and technology behind it all (which I am not great at) and I slowly slink away back to real life and to read all the wonderful blogs out there that other people do so well.

Not this year! Well, not next year (2017) anyway. This time I am going to become the blogger and not just the silent reader. I look forward to sharing with you my love of crochet, (above is a little baby blanket project on the current hook) a few other little crafts, the occasional good book and my slightly odd (or so my Mother tells me) hobby of doll photography.
